Where words fail, music speaks. Is there any better way to describe the new Aria Hotel Budapest, than through immortal prose of Hans Christian Andersen? I’m completely positive that the famous Danish author would be overwhelmed (and, perhaps, inspired) with truly magical atmosphere of this brand new luxury boutique hotel.
This beautiful place designed by the great Zoltan Varro, offers a faithful recreation of the rich, lavish atmosphere of a historic Hungarian palace, while simultaneously embracing visitors in the warmth and comfort of a private residence.
Like music itself, the four wings of Aria Hotel Budapest are quite different, but all follow the same theme. Music, of course. Each of the Aria’s four wings is dedicated to a different music genre: Classical, Opera, Contemporary, and Jazz. In every room and suite you can find fantastic caricatures of the world’s greatest musical legends such as Maria Callas, Count Basie, Bob Dylan, James Brown and Hungary’s own Franz Liszt. Drawn by famous artist Joseph Blecha, this art pieces are bringing a touch of funky and casual in otherwise adamantly luxurious environment, which completely goes along with Aria’s artistic spirit.

For the ones who mostly enjoy the serenity of classical music, The Classical Music wing is a perfect choice. Furnished in Neo-Baroque style, but modernized with streamlined forms and colors, this wing is (in my opinion) closest to the classic luxury than anything else in this spectacular place. Shades of hazelnut contrast with the vivid pop of turquoise create a haven of sophisticated elegance, heightened by the drama of Venetian Murano glass chandeliers, coffered ceilings, and a historical Violin sketch etched into the custom-made carpets. And true icing on the cake goes in a form of soundtrack for this wing, which comprises compositions of such giants as Beethoven, Liszt, Bach, Chopin and many more.
But what about Jazz lovers among us? Well, Aria also has beautifully designed Jazz wing with unmistakeably cool Hollywood glamour. Inspired by the ambiance of 1920’s jazz clubs, with somewhat rough hard floors and exposed brick ceilings and walls, which effect is created by using original bricks from the 19th century building. The Jazz rooms are furnished in Art Noveau style, with spotlights and a custom-made area rug featuring an etching of a Saxophone and let’s not forget that polished chrome trunk-style writing tables, my personal favorite when it comes to details. These rooms are simply a joy to visit even if you’re not a Jazz aficionado. Soundtrack of this wing includes the legends of Jazz, from Billie Holiday to Miles Davis and Count Basie to B.B. King.
The most elegant is Aria’s Opera wing. Spacious and luxurious rooms are adorned in Neo-Baroque furnishings and painted in colors of gray and lilac, which create atmosphere of sheer opulence and nobility. Similar to the rooms in The Classical Music Wing, dramatic chandeliers made of Murano Venetian glass are also present, as well as tufted velvet headboards and historical musical instrument sketches etched into the custom-made carpets. Musical soundtrack of this wing contains masterpieces- Mozart, Handel, Puccini, Verdi…
The Contemporary Wing of Aria Hotel Budapest offers something completely different. More in the lifestyle fashion than any other wing, this one is a truly sight to see. Bold colors and whimsical elements that include custom-made headboards create an ambiance that’s both fun and funky, and Pop-Art influence is omnipresent. Aimed for the ones of more free spirit, but also for the lovers of slightly different take on luxury, these spectacular rooms offer true enjoyment for all senses.
And what about soundtrack? Well, from the Fab Four to the Supreme ones, from the Prince of Pop to the King himself, from The Godfather of Soul to the Blue Eyes that everything did his way, the music of this wing is a real treat for literally all music lovers.
