Discovering new Parisian hotels is, by default, a very pleasant endeavor. Our favorite city is known for the myriad of large and luxurious hotels, but also for the more intimate, almost hidden places that we especially enjoy to visit. In the case of Monsieur hotel, a new 4-star retreat in the heart of the city, not only that we had a great pleasure by the sheer discovery, but we also had a perfect stay in one of the most beautiful Parisian neighborhoods, near the Opera Garnier.
Situated in a classical Haussmanian building, surrounded by theaters, museums and city’s most prestigious shopping district, Rue St Honore, Monsieur hotel is a little gem that simply craves for your attention. The interior is designed by famous architect and interior decorator, Vincent Bastie, who did an admirable job by giving this hotel an informal, relaxed, yet luxurious look, with inspiration rooted in theater.
Deluxe room “Premières loges”- The red walls and velvet curtains in bedroom scream Parisian chic.
All of the hotel’s 31 rooms are soundproofed and equipped with all the necessities that modern hotel has to have, but it’s the interior design that makes them stand out from the crowd. These gorgeous rooms have a certain je ne sais quoi that will leave you craving a French vacation. At the same time they are cozy and posh, with a healthy dose of theatrical, just to spice-up things a little bit. After all, hotel’s fantastic Triple Suite is named after the great French stage actor and playwright Sacha Guitry.

We had a terrific time in our Deluxe room with an amazing terrace that overlooked quiet and elegant Rue des Mathurins. The moment we entered we felt like we are in a private Parisian loft from some other time. The retro red bed took central place of our room covered with yellow bedspread. This bold look is soothed with brown and floral velvet curtains, and walls that are wrapped with lighter brown wall coverings whose texture and pattern give cohesive, stylish space. The opulent tiles on the walls and floor of our bathroom made it the perfect oasis. So, we were quite satisfied with the overall look of our room. It was such a joy waking up here and drinking first morning coffee while reading Le Monde on our terrace, and still feeling rays of light of almost gone summer. Summer in Paris!
Deluxe room that was our haven for a few days
Hotel’s restaurant, a very chic place with bohemian vibes and rich breakfast, turns into honesty bar after 6 p.m. We enjoyed having a quick drink in this romantic dining room after returning from city explorations. For the book lovers this place is quite a library, with so many French classics.
Monsieur hotel also comprises fitness room (that we often used), as well as spa center, managed by Olivier Lecocq, masseur with his own trademark treatments that are personalized for the specific needs of each client. We suggest you to try some of his magical rituals, as well as the hotel’s beautiful hammam.
For all city-explorers in search for a centrally located hotel with a feel of an old Paris that we are nostalgic for, Monsieur hotel presents a no-miss opportunity and a breath of a fresh air on the Parisian hotels scene.
