IMPAR is a Catalan restaurant with tributes to the cuisine of different countries. Located at the Hotel Sofia Barcelona, this restaurant by design is a modern take on traditional Parisian bistros which gives a very welcoming and nice feeling to it.
The restaurant is designed by Chilean interior designer Jaime Beriestain, who incorporated contemporary proportions and colors to create a warm and timeless atmosphere. You see the Mediterranean influences from the choices of colors – different shades of blue tailor-made tiling, skillfully composed in an abstract work of art, to the raffia chandeliers and lamps. The idea was to create a space that will become the culinary and social meeting point for people in Barcelona.
The presence of stone in its rawest form can be seen in the bar top, and reference to the sun with the use of brass and aged mirrors in the shades of gold.
During our visit we came to conclusion that, while the hotel looks and feels very luxurious and elegant, it is not uptight. The atmosphere is inviting, and both the hotel’s and IMPAR‘s staff are welcoming and relaxed in their approach. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t follow a dress code, rather that you will enjoy an upscale place and have an exceptional fine dinning experience at ease. After all, you are in Barcelona, so you deserve to slow down a bit, have a sip or two of a great wine and feel the summer breeze in a beautiful surrounding which IMPAR certainly is. We opted for La Charla wine with, expressive aroma of white fruit, pear or melon. Also, we can wholeheartedly recommend Pazo de San Mauro, also fruity with rich floral and citrus nuances.
A modern take on traditional Parisian bistros
IMPAR offers a wonderful selection of starters, including guacamole with corn crisp and perfectly crunchy deep-fried Andalusian-style prawns. The portions are very generous, so we suggest to be careful in choosing your dishes. Because we thought: “If, this is the starter, what are we having for the main course?
For the main course we recommend grilled salmon with sautéed baby carrots, orange sauce and roasted roots. This combination of flavors is so delicious, citrusy sweet and yet well balanced with a tender salmon that simply melts in your mouth. For classical dish lovers, the Premium hamburger is an excellent choice. The perfect dessert is Cheesecake with strawberry ice cream.
The memory of your meal here will linger long after you’ve returned home
The diverse range of options on the menu ensures that there is something for everyone’s taste buds. Whether you prefer traditional dishes or more adventurous flavors, each one is prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. With such a delightful array of choices, it’s impossible not to leave the restaurant with a satisfied and contented smile on your face.
IMPAR‘s garden is not only beautifully lit in the evening, but it also offers a serene atmosphere for guests to relax and unwind. Whether you’re enjoying a drink at the bar or having a cozy dinner, the enchanting ambiance of the garden creates an unforgettable experience.
The terrace and outdoor gardens
