Prague Fashion Week is just one month away and it is the perfect time to get to know about Czech fashion scene. Here are the names of designers and fashion brands that deserve most attention.
Jakub Polanka is one of the most important names in Czech fashion scene which is proved with the number of awards he was nominated by fashion magazines like Elle and Vogue. Polanka graduated at the prestigious Institut Français de la Mode in Paris and also had the chance to work with some of the most important brands in fashion industry like Hermés and Louis Vuitton. The designer is famous for his unique creations for modern woman. While working on new collections, he prefers not to follow trends, but rather makes unique creations that are inspired by the themes of future and love.
Fashion brand Pietro Filipi is founded in 1993. The name was inspired by Italy and its culture, fashion and lifestyle. Famous for their timeless minimalistic pieces, quality materials and perfect tailoring brand offers both man and woman clothing. Designing tim that consists of Martha Bryxi, Margarida Machado, Lay Sedlaková and Anna Tušková is in charge of women’s collections. When it comes to menswear, designer Vladimir Staněk creates pieces that are enough urban and stylish but also suitable for trendy business look.
TIQE by PETRA BALVINOVA
Designer Petra Balvínová founded the brand Tiqe in 2006. Today, as a main designer she creates collections that are made for feminine and elegant woman. The materials used mostly for Tiqe clothing are silk, cotton, wool and leather. This season the designer decided to make another step and show her first wedding dress collection at Prague Fashion Week in September.
Designers Anna Tušková and Radka Sirková founded the brand Chatty in 2004 when they were still fashion design students. Soon after, their collections became synonym for stylish urban fashion. Chatty designs are known in Europe for their custom-made jeans. They combine progressive cuts and luxury fabrics with solid technology and special attention to details to create pieces that make a harmony. Besides the Prague Fashion Week, in 2014, designers participated at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin and also in Premium fashion fair in Berlin. In 2015, they showed their collection in Amsterdam at Modefabriek fair and went to Poland to participate at the spring Fashion Week in Warsaw. During their work together the duo has been nominated for the Fashion Designer of the Year title many times.
Antonín Soukup, Miroslava Kohutiarová and Katarína Ravasová are the designers who stand behind the brand Laformela. So far they showed collections that are inspired by the past times but still manage to keep up with the latest trends. Laformela collections can be described as rebellious, spiritual, fearless, underground and feminine at the same time. Last year the fashion trio was awarded by the Czech Grand Design price.
