Inspired by the effects of the open air on the skin, the Les Beiges line by Chanel has introduced new instinctive beauty steps over the past few seasons. Created for women in search of authenticity and freedom, it “oxygenates” the complexion by imitating every nuance of nude skin in the great outdoors. This color palette sparked a desire for understated sophistication. A timeless and recognizable natural healthy glow. With Les Beiges, Lucia Pica, Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer, pursues her quest for these airy textures. In collaboration with the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio and Chanel Research, she offers an original vision of the complexion in 2019 and takes us beyond pigment. For the first time, the microfluidic technology – already used in skincare and fragrance – puts its magic to work in a water-fresh tint with an exceptional nude skin effect. “ Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint is a new makeup product that enhances women’s natural beauty. It is worn like a subtle and undetectable second skin ”, explains Lucia Pica.
The Les Beiges line has made naturalness a style in itself and elegance a self-evident truth. In 2019, color radiates on the lips with Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm to heighten a natural healthy glow, while eyes are accentuated with a colorful breeze using Les Beiges Natural Eyeshadow Palette. As for the legendary Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder, it unveils a distinctive signature to make it even more desirable.
Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint: The elegance of impeccable and effortless foundation
Dreamed up by Lucia Pica, Chanel Global Creative Makeup and Color Designer, in collaboration with the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio and Chanel Research, Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint offers an original vision of foundation and delivers an expression of color as pure as it is imperceptible on the skin. With its nude-skin finish, Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint lets the skin breathe and enhances the beauty of every woman. “ Its fresh, aqueous and ultra-fine texture becomes one with the skin’s natural beauty for a natural and luminous makeup result ”, declares Lucia Pica.
Technology to enhance simplicity
Constantly in search of new textures, Chanel pushes back the limits of innovation with Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint. By featuring microfluidics in a foundation product for the first time, Chanel Research invents a nude-skin makeup result with unprecedented freshness and a natural, luminous and sheer finish. The patented microfluidics process makes it possible to limit the number of ingredients and unite an aqueous water-soluble phase and an oil-soluble phase in a single formula without an emulsifier. As a result, a multitude of oil micro-droplets with a fine and evanescent coating, filled with pure pigments, are suspended in a transparent and jellified aqueous phase.
A cascade of sensations
Steeped in water, Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint delivers a unique sensory experience, while diffusing just the right dose of pigments, without excess. On contact with the skin, its jellified texture releases its hydrating agents: vegetal glycerin and tamarind extract. It offers the skin a high percentage of water for an intense and immediate sensation of freshness. Then, the water evaporates, giving way to fine oils with a neroli-inspired fragrance for a wonderful sensation of comfort. When they burst, the micro-droplets melt onto the skin, releasing the pigments, which become one with the complexion. Skin is incredibly luminous and instantly evened out with a sheer finish. It is embellished and refreshed with an airy feel, as if revived by a breeze.
Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint is applied with a small ergonomic brush, developed in parallel with the formula for perfect affinity. One press on the pump dispenses the product, whose two phases – aqueous and oily – remain separate. When applied with the brush, they blend together, making the micro-droplets burst.
A continuous healthy glow touch
Both imperceptible and metamorphic, Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint can be applied as often as desired for a tailor-made makeup result. In this way, it initiates a new product category. Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint can be used on its own, like a veil of radiance on the entire complexion, smoothed on from the center of the face outwards. It can also be included in a layering ritual as a base before another product or as an illuminating top coat on prominent areas of the face. Finally, it can be used for makeup touch-ups all day long, whenever needed. The pigment is invisible to the naked eye. It melts away when the brush touches the skin, leaving only the impression of a complexion infused with intensely luminous freshness. Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint comes in six shades: Light, Medium Light, Medium, Medium Plus, Light Deep and Deep.
A collector’s powder
It all began with Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder. Behind this now-cult powder was the desire to emancipate the complexion from the rhythm of the seasons and fashions and show off an outdoor effect all year long. A sensation of oxygen on the skin. Singular freshness. An obvious and essential healthy glow. This year, Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder indulges in new limited-edition packaging. Formulated without SPF, the powder comes in seven shades (N°10, N°20, N°30, N°40, N°50, N°60, N°70) and is nestled in a black-trimmed beige case signed with the name “ Chanel ” in a handwritten style. A spontaneous signature, the exact replica of that of Gabrielle Chanel, which is also found embossed on the powder.
A wardrobe of precise shades
Lucia Pica perfectly understands which colors heighten the natural beauty of nude skin. Fascinated by the obvious elegance of the Les Beiges collection and the ease with which the shades express themselves on the skin, she dreamed up a new type of palette. Each of the nine natural eyeshadows bears the conspicuous signs of a healthy outdoor glow. Airy beige, light-reflecting rosy beige, raw cocoa, bare skin, moonlight, matte khaki, hot chocolate, mineral bronze and sienna… A Pantone color chart inspired by the most vibrant surfaces of the earth, from sparkle-strewn rocks to clay courts by way of soft sands and fertile ground. Mistakes are impossible. Each of the nine colors is compatible with all skin tones, from the fairest to the darkest.
A new set of possibilities
The eyeshadows can be used on their own or together, applied with fingertips or the brush. Their use is foolproof: every combination was carefully analyzed to guarantee constant compatibility. “ I wanted a palette that ensures intuitive and obvious makeup application ”, points out Lucia Pica. “ There’s no need to overthink. Simply let the color guide your hand and have fun. I love using the ivory rosy beige as a highlighter. It catches the light. Blends of cool shades with warmer shades (such as the warm taupe with the cool taupe) create a deep vibration. You can also obtain interesting contrasts by dressing up a matte taupe base with a touch of platinum taupe or layering the warm taupe with the golden bronze. As for the dark chocolate, the darkest color of the palette, it is perfect for creating smoky effects or subtly outlining the eyes. Finally, if you want to bring out the natural color of the eyes, you can use a hint of the reddish brown. ”
An instinctive raw material
Whether dark or light, satiny or matte, the nine eyeshadows of the palette all have a silky, melt-away texture. Long-wearing, they don’t smudge throughout the day. On the contrary, they glide on easily and set themselves, staying perfect until the moment of makeup removal.
The enveloping Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm Intense instantly embellishes the complexion by adding a touch of vibrant color to the lips. Lucia Pica dares to create a brick red inspired by the beauty of clay courts. This surprising shade is designed to naturally match all skin tones. Its creamy, melt-away texture, composed of a vitamin E derivative and moringa butter, nourishes, protects and wraps lips in wonderful comfort. On lips, color appears luminous and sheer. Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm Intense can be applied on its own or combined with a Chanel lipstick.
